Dental Bonding

Dentist and assistant performing a dental bonding procedure on a patientDental bonding takes a chipped or shattered tooth, and we then apply resin to it. The cracks are filled in and coated with the resin, and once we are happy with the result, we shine a light onto the bonding to make sure that it hardens and seals. No matter if the chip is small or you have badly broken a tooth, dental bonding is a painless and easy procedure that will get everything back on track for you again.

Why Is Tooth Bonding So Special?

There are a lot of different ways to fix and repair teeth, from crowns and fillings, to a full-mouth restoration. However, what makes tooth bonding one of the best ways to repair minor damage or tooth decay? For starters it makes your tooth look as good as new. The resin is also tooth-colored and looks completely natural, so when you smile most people cannot tell the difference.

Additionally, it is the perfect procedure for smaller chips or gaps between the teeth due to an injury. People can break their teeth in a number of different ways, from sports injuries, to accidents, to falls. Some of these are small, and they do not require a full coverup of the tooth or a complete overhaul to hide the damage.

That is where tooth bonding comes in, to fix these smaller problems. Even a small chip in your tooth can cause problems for your lifestyle and oral health.

Who Gets Tooth Bonding?

If your tooth has a minor injury but is not destroyed, then you are eligible for dental bonding. If most of the tooth is lost or the entire tooth is gone, then you likely will need to focus on getting a dental implant to replace the tooth.

Dental bonding can be used to support the color of your teeth as well, but since the resin is already tooth-colored make sure that you are happy with how your teeth look first. We advise teeth whitening before your dental bonding if you are concerned with the brightness of your teeth; dental bonding cannot be bleached.

How Does It Work?

Tooth bonding is one of the simpler procedures that we offer, and it does not require anesthesia or any prep work. You just need to pick the resin you want to use, let that resin be bonded to your tooth to repair any damage, and then sit under the UV light while the resin dries and hardens. After that, the outpatient procedure is done.

How Can Dental Bonding Help?

Dental bonding is the application of tooth-colored composite resin materials, used to mask the parts of the teeth that deflect from your smile, including:
•  Chips or cracks
•  Stains and discoloration
•  Oddly shaped teeth
•  Misaligned teeth
•  Gaps and spaces

Dr. Walker carefully blends bonding materials so they can easily be shaped and polished to match naturally with the surrounding teeth. This provides a brand new appearance to the smile with dentistry that is unnoticeable.

Subtle Changes. Tremendous Impact.

A conservative, cost-effective smile makeover with beautifully natural results.

Preparation

The surface of the tooth will be carefully etched and conditioned so that the bonding material will adhere to it strongly.

Application

The bonding material is applied to the tooth, as Dr. Walker molds it until it’s in its proper shape and looks natural. The bonding is then hardened using a special ultraviolet light.

Completion

Dr. Walker will assess the application and make any further adjustments if needed. Once any final touches are made, the tooth is polished until the bonding blends naturally with the rest of your smile.
